It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.〔 The home has some local architectural significance but is mostly significant for its association with abolitionist Francis Gillette, as it was his home during the early years of the anti-slavery movement in America, and as it is asserted to have been used by him to shelter runaway slaves.
